Videos from video camera to computer?!?

i have a hitachi video camera and it saves the videos i make onto it because i can go back and review them on the camera, but when i put the little dvd in the computer it comes up as a blank disk. the video camera also has a sim card...is there a possible way either to put these videos using the little dvd or the sim card?? please help..this is my final exam grade!
