How do you remove and fit the airbox on an early bandit?

ive been trying to fathom it out and the Haynes manual is absolutely no help whatsoever! the box just seems to big to fit through the frame whichever way i seem to try it. and theres no way im drpping the engine just to remove the airbox. i considered breaking it off but i want to use it again!
