Where was Jessie in the episode "Theatricality"?

In glee, episode 19 "Dream On", Jesse returns from spring break to McKinley. Two episodes later, in "Funk", he transfers back to Carmel High to join Vocal Adrenaline again, betraying Rachel and the New Directions. So in episode 20, he's still supposed to be in McKinley. But he doesn't appear in the episode at all. Does anybody know why?
